PAINTING AND DRAWING

The course consists of drawing lessons with the live model (Monday and Wednesday 3-5 PM), still life drawing lessons and painting lessons. Students will be introduced to the use of various materials such as charcoal, sanguine and pencil. What concerns painting: studies include the use of tempera, oil and acrylic colors. Students choose a subject to paint, They can also work on expressing more fully their ideas or copying a work of art.

PAINTING WITH ANCIENT TECHNIQUES

Choose your favorite artwork and learn to paint it like the old masters did! Our Painting with Ancient Techniques course introduces students to the study of egg-based tempera, according to the guidelines of “The Book of the Art” by Cennino Cennini. The course provides preparation of a drawing, base on one of the work of the Renaissance masters. The student will be introduced to the preparation of egg-based color tempera, how to copy the artwork (spolvero) and the use of gold leaf (gilding)

PAINTING WITH CONTEMPORARY TECHNIQUES

This course is designed to teach students to use the new language, through learning how to use new support materials (plastic, various canvases, wood, metal) and painting techniques, ranging from the old traditional colors to the use of mixed techniques (such as color applied with sponge, spatulas and rollers). The combination of new support and painting techniques will help the student to develop a new language and personal painting style.

SCULPTURE

This course allows the student to choose between a wide variety of techniques and media, including clay modeling and marble carving. According to the student’s level of study and course selection, the student may choose to concentrate on a specific technique or may choose to diversify techniques and materials. At the beginning of the course, there will be an introduction to functional drawing for sculpture used in connection with the various techniques

FRESCO

During this course, students will be introduced to the materials used in the creation of a fresco using the medieval and Renaissance techniques applied by the old masters. They can also express their own ideas in a sketch using new techniques. The knowledge acquired will be put in use through the execution of one or more paintings.
